Student participation: from representation to impactPublications

What if students could genuinely help shape policy, as partners rather than merely participants? How can we move together from having a voice to making an impact?

This NVAO publication provides insight into student participation through in-depth reflection, new perspectives and valuable recommendations. These are the outcome of the NVAO’s system-wide analysis, in which higher education institutions shared their practices and experiences of student participation and discussed them with international peers.

The resulting publication offers:

  • an integrated overview of student participation in Flemish higher education;
  • inspiring examples for programmes, student councils and institutions;
  • recommendations for anyone seeking to strengthen student participation.

The NVAO would particularly like to highlight two key recommendations emerging from the analysis:

  • the establishment of a Network of Participation Coaches;
  • support for practice-oriented research on student participation.

This publication brings together the full range of insights, recommendations and sources of inspiration needed to make student participation a lasting reality and to further strengthen its impact.
