NVAO presents thematic analysis agenda for quality assurance 202605/02/2026
The Accreditation Organisation of the Netherlands and Flanders (NVAO), Netherlands division, has established its 2026 agenda for thematic analyses of quality assurance. Through these analyses, NVAO examines how quality assurance in Dutch higher education aligns with current developments in education and society.
In 2026, the focus will be on a number of themes that are of great importance to programmes, institutions and assessment panels. Further research will be conducted into the use of generative AI in education and in accreditation processes. In addition, NVAO Netherlands will initiate new analyses on the safeguarding of programmatic assessment and on critical success factors in the accreditation of new programmes. The thematic analysis on safeguarding quality in work-based learning within associate degree programmes will also be completed. This study builds on earlier guidelines and maps how the interaction between student, programme and workplace can be strengthened.
Through these thematic analyses, NVAO aims to contribute to:
- improved insight into trends and developments in quality assurance;
- practical guidance and advice for programmes and panels;
- effective and efficient procedures within the accreditation system.
